FUND RAISING

For those of you much more experienced than I... I was wondering if I could glean some fund-raising ideas. What have you done to raise money for your adoptions that worked for you. There has to be a million ideas out there... we just gotta find 'em! Please let us know. We know the best thing to do is pray and God will see us through! We are eager to hear what you all have done!

For those of you checking this blog for an update... take note that benefits will be planned. Our AWESOME sisters are helping to get some ideas going! We will be having a couple garage sales as well. If you would like to donate sale items PLEASE contact me! prayforasia@netzero.net

We will do whatever it takes to get these kids home!

We made a cook book full of friends' and families' recipes. We sold 200 of them. Way more than I anticipated. God is faithful!! I pray everything you put your hands to will prosper.

This is going to sounds weird, but you might consider having someone write an article on you in the local paper. I can talk with you about how you could submit something like this. Send me an email...

Well our adoptions are being funded mainly by fundraisers.
I am a singer by trade so I did a concert in the park and took up a love offering. My husband is a photographer by trade. So we have done "Pictures in the Park". That is where we set up at a local park one weekend and people made appointments with us for 30 min increments. They pay $50 and get a CD with all their images on it plus a copyright release letter to take them anywhere they want and have them printed. (They are getting a steal of a deal)

We have done garage sales. We have had friends offer to do homebased business parties and donate their entire commissions to our adoption.(ie pampered chef, jewelry)

But the funnest one of all was our Jonas Jar campaighn. We asked/challenged people to keep a jar and throw their spare change in it for a month and donate it to the adoption. You would be amazed how fast loose change adds up. Especially when you clean out all the places you put it. I think a lot of people were willing to do this one because it seems so easy and it's only change. BUT change adds up quick!!!!
I went to the local resale shop and bought all shapes of jars and vases. Then we attached a photo of Jonas on them along with the number to call once it was full. We simply told people about it, no pressure. We have made over $500 with them. Some people kept the jar for one month then were done, and some have filled them over and over again! It's fun!
Oh, since it is change I would take the bag to the bank and a teller would run it thru the machine and post it to our account. One time I thought I bet this person wonderes why I keep bringing in change. So I left a note in the bag explaining what it was for and my blog address. She left a note with a receipt for her donation. A complete stranger!

One thing is for sure, GOD will provide! I'll be praying.

Ok, this one may not be for everyone, but, I am waiting to hear if I qualify for a medical research study. If I do and complete it I will get $1,150. It's an idea.

i worked w/ lab rats in college and we were NOT nice.
