It is amazing to us, this journey we are on... Why are we starting this blog even? Some may say it is dangerous... too transparent... we will be hurt if we lay our heart out in the open for all to see...
But we think differently. Oh to be transparent! There are times not to be I suppose... it's a mature thing to know that. AND YET... if we are afraid to be transparent... we stop other people from learning from our lives.
And so...the web... ooooohhh a dark SCAREY place... where does all this information go!!?? Well I know one thing... I don't care because there is enough people becoming indecently transparent on the "web"! Time for us to step up and shed some light and use the web for what maybe GOD was hoping it would be used for!!! So if that means being transparent on our journey AMEN!
So the transparent journey??? Well it's adoption. Rob and I have felt God call us to start a family, and we hope and pray the journey starts in Haiti! We are going this July! Please pray with us as we look for our family!

Hey Angela and Kathy! We've been praying for both of you (and your families)! Kathy, I hope we get to meet you in July~we are leaving on the 14th so might just miss each other =(
We've been blessed to be able to go early to Haiti. Now we will be going in May as well! I'm dancing for joy! Things just seem to be going faster than we could have imagined!! Thank you both for being part of our support in your own ways. It is just great to be able to be in touch with other adoptive parents. Right now we are trying to choose who will do our homestudy... any words of wisdom are more than welcome!!! God bless you both!!!
Hi Hope! I'm sorry to hear that we will probably miss each other unless we get to wave at each other at the airport. I'm so glad that you will be going in May...wish I was going too! Two things that are essential in this adoption process are 1) prayer & 2) keep your focus on the Lord. I know those seem like no brainers but trust me, it's very easy to get caught up in the "stuff" of the process. Just remember that God WILL finish what He started even if it's not according to your time table.
As far as the home study goes, when you're checking out your options make sure you ask them what their usual completion time is for a home study & ask for a list of everything you will need to do or get. We ran into some "bumps" with ours because our information packet did not contain all the information it was suppose to but we didn't know that until the end of the process when the social worker was asking for this & that & we didn't know anything about it. I would also ask if they have interns working with the social worker. I know that is how they learn but we had 3 different ones helping our social worker out & not all of them were up to the task.
I would also be leary of anyone or agency who asks for all the money up front. Usually you pay a portion when they begin the home study & the rest at completion or after the final visit.
I hope this info. is helpful to you. I will continue to lift you & Rob up in prayer during this journey.
So I was reading your profile and we have a lot in common. I love the Nooma videos and Rob Bell. My husband downloads his sermons all the time on his MP3 player. I love Jeremy Camp and David Crowder....and I love the movie "The End of the Spear". Good stuff. I am so excited to hear that you will get to go in May. I will be praying for God to reveal to you your future family and that the feeling would be so overwhelming that you can't deny it!! Oh...the excitement. I can't wait to hear about your trip!! As far as the homestudy...try to get it done before you leave in May. That way you are ahead of the game. Our homestudy lady was awesome. If you lived in Indiana I'd give you a recommendation.
